Finance Manager – Group Inventory Accounting

Location: Cambridge or Luton

We are seeking an experienced finance manager in inventory accounting to join our dynamic team in ensuring precise accounting for Group Inventory and Provision for Unrealised Profit in Stock (PURP). This role is pivotal in reviewing supply chains worldwide and managing inventory valuation. You will be part of the Group Financial Reporting team, working closely with various finance teams. Accountabilities:
- Direct management and provision of first-line support to the Group Intercompany Inventory Elimination accountants, including reviewing work performed during hard and soft close periods.
- Primary support to the Finance Director & Global Process Owner in the month-end close and soft close process for PURP.
- Perform the Inventory Statutory to Management Reconciliation, investigate and explain differences across the two valuations.
- Lead the relationship with Group Finance Services (GFS) for support and feedback around the Intercompany Inventory Elimination and inventory accounting processes.
- Assist in the preparation of and provide expertise in inventory and cost of goods sold disclosures in the Annual Report and 20-F.
- Key role in liaison with External Auditors throughout the year to ensure a successful audit process.
- Own and perform relevant SOX controls in the PURP process in accordance with the SOX reporting timetable.
- Own and manage update of relevant Group Statutory Intercompany Profit Elimination GSOP.
- Advise on accounting and reporting treatment and processes on inventory accounting, PURP and provide other practical support as required by reporting units.
- Work closely with SAP & GVC Senior Functional Consultant and 3rd party provider on implementation of system improvements, new legal entity set up in GVC, projects relevant for inventory accounting and S4HANA.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Qualified accountant
- Significant experience of Inventory Reporting activities and accounting implications, including value chains, costing, stock in transit, material variances, revaluations and transfer pricing
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Understanding of consolidation mechanics and systems/tools.
- Experience of reporting under IFRS
- Proven leadership, mentoring and coaching skills in team management
- Experience of financial control and SOX frameworks
- Established history of delivering results in a large and complex business environment, with the flexibility to work collaboratively with various teams.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to identify, analyse and offer other solutions to complex problems and able to ensure objectives are met even when under pressure

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience/understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
